    MORE MONKEE LITTLE KNOWN FACTS!

  • In "Everywhere a Sheik, Sheik," Davy mouths "son of a bitch" straight into the camera, and later on during a romp Micky flips off the camera.

  • Davy Jones is acknowledged as being a "composer" on the infamous 1969 album "Permanent Damage", by the GTOs. The album was produced by Frank Zappa and features backing music by the Jeff Beck Band and the Mothers of Invention. Davy is also name checked in a song about Rodney Bingenheimer. The GTOs, by the way, were the original super-groupies in L.A circa the late 60s, featuring Pamela "I'm Witht the Band" Des Barres, Miss Christine, Miss Sandra, Miss Mercy, Miss Cynderella, Miss Sparky. One must wonder how Zappa or the girls got Davy involved and what his "composing" duties were.

  • Peter's wife, Reine Stewart, played drums on 33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee when Fats Domino's drummer failed to show up.

  • Sammy Davis Jr. visited the set and was supposed to direct an episode, but it never ended up happening.

  • Besides Tim Buckley and Frank Zappa, Harpo from Paul Revere and the Raiders, John Lennon, and Dino Danelli from the Rascals were also intended as 'musical guests'. Harpo and Dino actually filmed segments that never made the cut for some reason.

  • On the show, Davy had to wear high heeled boots with 2 inch lifts in them as well.

  • The Monkees were very displeased by the artwork for The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees album, and especially since a Colgems/Columbia music exec had inserted HIS OWN PICTURE on their cover, hidden beneath some flowers. click to see!

  • In 1968, Davy was drafted. Thousands of fans in England and America held protest marches protesting his being drafted, however Davy went into the draft examination after losing 15 or more pounds and they said they didn't need a weakling like him in the army. Whew.

  • Davy appears on the 1968 Jan & Dean track "Laurel and Hardy"

  • In the 1980s, Mike Nesmith actually attended a 3Kees concert with Winona Ryder, who he was shooting a movie with. He dressed up in a disguise and went to see them and he said he ACTUALLY ENJOYED IT.

  • Davy's favorite drink is Guinness beer.

  • Michael Nesmith produced the 1980s classic video "All Night Long" by Lionel Richie. Haha.

  • The original title for Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones LTD was Monkees 4 U. Who's lame idea was that? The second title was Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Capricorn Ltd.

  • According to Davy's autobiography, he's only had one threesome in his whole life and that was BEFORE he was a Monkee. That's really disappointing; I thought for sure he was real wild when it came to sexual activities.

  • Supposedly Linda Jones (Davy's first wife) is in the "Long Title" sequence in HEAD. I sure can't pick her out. Can anyone find her?
