Bruce Palmer was the co-founder of the group with Neil Young, who drove to L.A in a hearse to start a band. During the band's history, Bruce was only a member of the group for part of the time, due to problems with the cops. He was busted twice for drug possession and deported back to Canada. He was also busted once for being in the USA without his visa and work permit. Oops. Somehow he kept sneaking back into L.A, though he was absent from a tiny bit of the recording of "Again". Since he was forced out of this great country of ours on different occaisions, Jim Messina had moved into the bass player role by the third album. Later on, when CSN was getting together, Steve wanted Bruce to play bass, but for some odd reason that never happened.

Bruce passed away in 2004.
